شورای امنیت،
با یادآوری قطعنامه‌های 598 (1987) 20 جولای 1987، 619 (1988) 9 اوت 1988 و 631 (1989) 8 فوریه 1989، با توجه به گزارش 22 سپتامبر 1989 دبیرکل سازمان ملل متحد در مورد گروه ناظر نظامی ایران و عراق، و توجه به مشاهدات بیان شده در آن، تصمیم می‌گیرد:
(الف) یک بار دیگر از طرف‌های ذینفع دعوت شود برای اجرای فوری قطعنامه شورای امنیت 598 (1987);
ب) تمدید مأموریت گروه ناظر نظامی سازمان ملل متحد بر ایران و عراق برای یک دوره دیگر شش‌ماهه، یعنی تا 31 مارچ 1990.
(ج) درخواست از دبیر کل برای ارائه گزارشی از تحولات در وضعیت و اقدامات انجام شده برای اجرای قطعنامه 598 (1987) در پایان این دوره.
The Security Council, Recalling its resolutions 598 (1987) of 20 July 1987, 619 (1988) of 9 August 1988 and 631 (1989) of 8 February 1989, Having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Iran-Iraq Military Observer Group of 22 September 1989, and taking note of the observations expressed therein, Decides:
(a) To call once again upon the parties concerned to implement immediately Security Council resolution 598 (1987);
(b) To extend the mandate of the United Nations Iran-Iraq Military Observer Group for a further period of six months, that is, until 31 March 1990;
(c) To request the Secretary-General to submit, at the end of this period, a report on the developments in the situation and the measures taken to implement resolution 598 (1987).
